Central Iowa Energy, LLC, Earns BQ-9000 Accreditation

Sen. Hillary Clinton joins Renewable Energy Group®, Inc., in announcing national quality assurance honor for Newton, Iowa, biodiesel production facility


(Newton, IA, November 6, 2007) - Today, Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG) announced that Central Iowa Energy, LLC, has earned BQ-9000 Accreditation from the National Biodiesel Board and National Biodiesel Accreditation Committee. The announcement happened in conjunction with a visit from Sen. Hillary Clinton, who toured the Newton, Iowa, facility, and shared her thoughts about biodiesel's role in addressing the nation's energy needs.

"BQ-9000 Accredited Producer certification distinguishes Central Iowa Energy (CIE) as one of the most respected biodiesel production facilities in the nation," said Central Iowa Energy General Manager, Derek Winkel. "Customers can be confident in knowing that when they work with CIE, they are working with among the very best in the nation. We were honored to have Sen. Clinton on site, to share in this important recognition."

A member of the REG network, Central Iowa Energy is a state-of-the-art, 30 million gallon per year biodiesel production facility. The production facility, located in Newton, Iowa, utilizes REG's continuous-flow, technology.

BQ-9000 is a voluntary quality assurance program which demonstrates that the quality control processes in place provide confidence that biodiesel produced at the facility will consistently meet the ASTM D6751 specification for biodiesel.

Product from Central Iowa Energy meets or exceeds the ASTM D6751 industry standard for biodiesel. Every lot of biodiesel marketed by REG is accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis outlining biodiesel quality.

Central Iowa Energy is the fourth REG network plant to receive BQ-9000 Accreditation. REG- owned production in Ralston, Iowa -- as well as REG-managed production at SoyMor in Glenville, Minn., and Western Iowa Energy, L.L.C., in Wall Lake Iowa, -- have also received BQ-9000 Accreditation.
