(Newton, IA, November 6, 2007) - Today, Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG) announced
that Central Iowa Energy, LLC, has earned BQ-9000 Accreditation from the National Biodiesel
Board and National Biodiesel Accreditation Committee. The announcement happened in
conjunction with a visit from Sen. Hillary Clinton, who toured the Newton, Iowa, facility, and
shared her thoughts about biodiesel's role in addressing the nation's energy needs.
"BQ-9000 Accredited Producer certification distinguishes Central Iowa Energy (CIE) as one of
the most respected biodiesel production facilities in the nation," said Central Iowa Energy
General Manager, Derek Winkel. "Customers can be confident in knowing that when they work
with CIE, they are working with among the very best in the nation. We were honored to have
Sen. Clinton on site, to share in this important recognition."
A member of the REG network, Central Iowa Energy is a state-of-the-art, 30 million gallon per

REG's continuous-flow, technology.
BQ-9000 is a voluntary quality assurance program which demonstrates that the quality control
processes in place provide confidence that biodiesel produced at the facility will consistently
meet the ASTM D6751 specification for biodiesel.
"We are honored to work with CIE, and to celebrate this achievement with their team," shared
Nile Ramsbottom, President of Renewable Energy Group, Inc. "Most importantly, we know that

biodiesel. Every lot of biodiesel marketed by REG is accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis
outlining biodiesel quality.
